Chocolate for the Troops

SMSgt Kimberlee Keller, AFSA Division 89, Chapter 872, passed on the great success of the Chocolate for Troops campaign from this last Christmas. In all over 21,000 pounds of chocolate was donated by 825 organizations and people from 38 states and Europe.

SMSgt Kimberlee Keller, AFSA Division 89, Chapter 872, passed on the great success of the Chocolate for Troops campaign from this last Christmas.  In all over 21,000 pounds of chocolate was donated by 825 organizations and people from 38 states and Europe.  AFSA Division 89 was part of this outstanding operation. In all the program distributed over 22,000 Christmas candy and gift bags to service members serving in Afghanistan.  The gift bags also contained items such as socks, toiletry items, hand/foot warmers, gloves, beef jerky, stationary and Christmas cards.

SMSgt Keller organized a small army of 329 volunteers from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines stationed at Bagram to build out the 22,000gift bags. One of the individuals that received a gift bag was quoted as saying “this Christmas has restored my faith in humanity, that so many people would support us like this”. 

SMSgt Keller wanted all members of Division 89 to know that all their contributions brought smiles and happiness to the men and women of our armed forces that could not spend Christmas with their families.
