CEO End of Year 2010 Hightlights

Highlights from the last year for the Air Force Sergeant's Association.

AFSA Volunteers, as we end up 2010, I wanted to thank each of you for supporting YOUR association and let you know that working with President Ledoux, President McDowell, and their respective Executive Councils, we have made several significant changes and improvements this past year.

Specifically:

  •  Completely revised Bylaws and Policies and Procedures
  •  New Employees Manual and totally compliant with Federal, State, Local requirements
  •  First-ever Business Plan
  •  First-ever Disaster Recovery Plan and established "cold site" within 3 miles
  •  Significantly upgraded Awards Manual
  •  Revised Internal Operations Manual
  •  New AFSA marketing video
  •  Fresh, new AFSA membership applications for 2011
  •  Cancelled contract with Bank of America
  •  Negotiated lucrative contract with USAA for property insurance, investments, credit ard
  •  Upgraded Chapter Checklist
  •  Upgraded AFSA Weekly Newsletters
  •  Upgraded AFSA "rolling" website
  •  Replaced servers, laptops, and computers, 
  •  Changed AFSA fiscal year effective January 1, 2011
  •  Outsourced all Human Resources functions for better service to employees, compliance, and savings
  •  Changed Auditor company after several years
  •  Placed all leave accounting on employees paycheck stubs (previously not easily released)
  •  Enhanced cooperation with Pentagon, Congress, and Administration officials
  •  Vastly increased turn-around time for producing official minutes of AFSA International meetings
  •  Established affiliation with Air Force Historical Foundation, Lackland Gateway Foundation, and National Association of State Veterans Homes
  •  Finally have all rental spaces rented and producing income for AFSA
  •  Significantly upgraded the Airmen Memorial Museum
  •  Negotiated a contract for payment of production and distribution for the AMM Calendar hence CFC funds will profit AMM
  •  Significantly cleaned out excesses in storage rooms (books, forms, coins, artifacts, et al)
  •  Upgraded your Airmen Memorial Building (corrosion control and rust removal, parking lot pot holes, framed/shelved all portraits/documents on walls, replaced all exterior lighting with new energy efficient type, new lights in gazebo and patio areas to enhance nighttime/weekend drug control).

None of the above could happen without tremendous teamwork and communications among our elected officials, members and within the small staff here in Headquarters. Thank you again. Wishing you a very safe and pleasant holiday season.
