Happy New Year Division 89 Members!!
I and all the Division 89 Executive Council extend the heartiest greetings to you in this New Year. 2009 was a busy and most productive year, and we look forward to continuing that momentum! Although various plans to reorganize AFSA were studied and rejected, we set an example by successfully merging Divisions 8 and 9. We did enlarge our borders to encompass 10 states as opposed to 5 each, but that was not the purpose. We maximized efficiency by eliminating an entire management level and related duplication, thus realizing a savings of half the cost to operate. We are completing our first year in this new posture and thrilled that our planning, execution and personal relationships have produced such positive results. As expected, it didn’t change much of how we operate – business as usual!
